For blind Callie's bed time story last night, we thought it would help motivate our plump girl to stay on her current (i.e., continual) diet to read her the article from the latest issue of Dog Fancy (see post below) titled "Your Easy Guide To A Lean, Fit Dog."
But it proved to be too much. Listening to all that stuff about dogs going hiking, chasing tennis balls and catching Frisbees just wore her out. The only thing in the article that appealed to her was the part about the dog riding happily in the cart behind the bicycle, while the human gets all the exercise pedaling. That, Callie believes, is what nature intended.
Callie got picked up by a big weblog this week!

I was curious so I followed the link back to the break.com page - half a million views!

Is that an elephant she's whispering to? If it is, she might be wishing for a trunk and big grey ears, nobody bugs them about being plump!
I used to have a dear calico cat shaped like a tea-cosy and she only got thinner when she was ill at age 13, so some gals are just born to be, yes, Rubenesque :-).
(Thanks Janet, love that thought!)

This was very funny... I could relate with my little doxie Frankie. I always love your posts about your doxie's... they are such characters!

Aw, don't worry, Callie - - there's just more of you to love, dear.

Callie, honey... truthfully, the camera is not your friend. You have to be aware of camera angles and unflattering poses. We love you just the way you are, but the camera doesn't. So, try to stick to that diet, as inhumane as it may seem... soon you'll be looking svelte and trim in the blog photos, just like Widget.

Yup, Callie is happily dreaming of Steve riding a bike as she sits behind him in a cart while she eats doggie treats. Meanwhile sweet Alayne is at home fixing Callie's dinner to be served in a large silver bowl!
Callie, you just have more for us to love!
