There's a favorite spot in the front yard, and it's under a big fir tree that casts a wonderful shadow on warm, sunny days. That's blind Molly and Priscilla under the tree in the photo above.
Here's an earlier shot I took of blind Goldie enjoying the tree ... she's the tiny gold speck right in front of the trunk:
And a little closer in:
She's got her head up and is sniffing the air for clues: "Say, anything new out there?"

Lots of comments about the camera. I use a digital SLR (a Nikon D50) for high-resolution, fast-shooting and no shutter lag. It's too big to carry around but provides the image quality and speed -- especially for animal photography -- I want. Many of the best blog photos end up in the print newsletters, for which I need 300 dpi resolution. For the Web you only need 72 dpi, but that won't work in print.

It looks so beautiful and the animals are so loved and well cared for!!!! You do an amazing job!

Fir Trees and lots of grass, very much like your Western WA roots. So, how long before you'll have that NH accent? If you live there, it's pretty easy to pick up!
Remembering back to pictures when you bought the property, of those cavernous inside rooms, can we get some pictures of how they look as dog and cat bunk houses?

What a tranquil setting for the "heaven on earth" for your Horses, Dogs, Cats & goats! I've really been enjoying the lush green photos of your new place in N.H. with the animals as they are discovering all the great places.
Big hugs all around,

Where is little Bailey? That looks like it would be his favorite spot for napping!

These, and the many other pics you have taken sure show the beauty that is New Hampshire. I love the dogs under the tree just relaxing and enjoying. What a beautiful place to have the ranch!

If that grass never turns brown and ugly like in Montana then you've surely bought a piece of Eden. You may be sorry you don't have Scarlet now! It looks like you could use another couple goats and some sheep! Beautiful green as far as the eye can see! Lucky dogs, lucky horses, lucky humans!

What, no Trooper? (He is still with you, yes?)
That really looks like heaven on earth.

What a wonderful place. So much more green than in Montana. Bigger trees and more shade. I can see all the animals love it already.

The dogs, cats, goats and horses (am I missing anyone) sure seem to be enjoying their new digs. I hope you are too. Your pictures sure show a lovely spot.
Do you have to worry more about ticks in NH then you did in MT? What about heartworm? The logistics of putting flea and tick meds on so many seems daunting to me.
I am sure it is no big deal for the 2 of you.
I do so look forward to your blog. Thank you.

I gotta say I LOVE the fact that you now are posting in the Eastern time zone! I never thought about blind dogs being able to locate the shade of a tree on a sunny day; how great is that? If they could only see how many of them there are!!! The grounds look great.
