I was taking photos for our summer print newsletter yesterday, and one of the animals who will be featured in this next issue is three-legged Honey Girl. She came to us last December from the Spokane County animal control shelter. She is a complete ham and a show-off, and she will do anything to get attention. Alayne calls her 'Pretzel' because of her ability to twist herself into all kinds of odd shapes.
She is usually on the perching shelves that line the walls of the cat house, and as soon as we walk in, Honey Girl begins throwing herself upside down or rolling on her back or hanging off the shelf. In other words, anything to draw attention to herself. In that photo of her at the top, you see exactly the kind of thing she does. "Over here! Look at me!" In case the visuals aren't enough, she often chatters with little meows as she goes through her routine. So while Alayne calls her Pretzel, I call her Showgirl.
This is the kind of look we get when she's done ... sort of a "So, what did you think of that?" expression:

Those are adorable pics. Thanks for sharing! I live for your blog posts every day!!

Great shots! I love the first one; perfect showgirl qualities from Honey girl. Keep those cat posts rolling. We adore them too!

What a Honey! I love how she curled her tail for just the right look!

I see both a "wink" and a question mark in the top picture. Hmmm... extra special cat communication that us "dog people" will enjoy but never truly understand. Most importantly, the expression of priceless contentment.

Woo-hooo! A cat story!!! And a tortie to boot, one of my favorites. Give her a kiss for me.

Oh my, Honey Girl looks just like my kitty Sammi, except Sammi is half Siamese & has blue eyes. She is beautiful, Honey Girl I mean. Sammi likes to lay on the floor & grab her back leg with her front feet & 'pet' her face with her back foot. Silly girl. Thanks for the happy post.

Pretzle or Showgirl, either way she's a very smart girl! She knows how to get your attention and stand out from the rest of the crowd.
What a beautiful face!

The top photo looks exactly like what our cat, Shadow, does. She's always after attention. She has a routine of before I go to bed I'll pet her, she'll get all sooky, meow, cuddle, do the pretzel pose, and then resume to pressing on my arm to say goodnight to me. Sometimes you get the impression you could do anything to her and she wouldn't care less as long as you give her a cuddle and attention :D

Our Leo acts just like Honey Girl! Must be a common trait of three-legged cats...:-)

I practice yoga and there is a position called "Threading the Needle" that is very similar to Honey Girl in the top photo. So maybe that's where she gets her flexibility and grace. What a delight to see such a beautiful picture of one of your felines.

Hahaha. Did you not give Honey Girl the attention she thought she deserved? That last picture, after the conclusion of her "act", is hilarious.
My cat Athena does the same thing: on the top of the refrigerator, dishwasher, fishtank, even stove!!! She gets so carried away that sometimes she just falls right over - I doubt Honey Girl is as klutzy as Thena!

I think Honey may have been a Vegas showgirl or a Rockette in a past life! What a showoff she is! How cute! She is so pretty.
Big hugs to all,
